Memorial Day

Go to the cemetery
On Memorial Day.
Look at the graves;
They’ll blow you away!

A sea of flags…
As the eye can see,
Moving in the wind,
So effortlessly!

The flags on the grave
Are all the same.
If you look at the marker,
You’ll know the name!

Those are our heroes
Who paid a high price.
They gave the most…
Supreme sacrifice!

They gave their lives
For you and me,
So that we may live
In democracy!

So let’s bow our heads
And say a prayer.
Let’s show appreciation
Let’s show we care!

I, for one, am grateful
And always will be.
It was the Americans
Who gave me liberty!
