Who is she?

she is sitting alone
somewhere in the corner
in the depths of darkness
plunged
hands covering her face
what do they hide?
fear?
pain?
happiness?
love?
or maybe herself?
she does not want
the world to see...
the world to know...
she keeps running away
she won't let anyone catch her
she gets deeper and deeper
she does not want
the world to know...
the people to see...
she reaches her hand to ....
who?
into the emptiness
there is no one
everyone is close
but too close to understand
that she shuts herself in a shell
of laughter and joy
in a shell of
appearances
she can do this
nobody asks
nobody wants to know
if she is herself?
or maybe
she is somebody else?
she owns the world
her world
people do not know that
the darkness
crushes her
that she chases the dreams
which keep running away
pulling her
deeper and deeper
fear and dread permeate her
"what will happen"
she does not want
the world to know ...
the world to see that SHE
is no one else but ME,,
